The Symphony opens with a funeral march performed by a lonely trumpet. It is the beginning of a journey that leads from tragedy to triumph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-xl-font-size\">The trumpet plays an important role also in <strong><em>The Unanswered Question<\/em><\/strong>, by the American composer <strong>Charles Ives<\/strong>, which completes the evening&#8217;s programme.
